Development Directorate. Preston City Council is part of the Preston, South Ribble and Lancashire City Deal. Work has already started on a £430 million 10 year investment programme to grow the local economy by £1 billion, creating over 20,000 new jobs and building over 17,000 new homes.

We are investing in our Planning service as we start the review of our Local Plan and are seeking an enthusiastic and well organised individual to take up this role within the Planning Policy team. Preston City Council is working together with the neighbouring authorities of South Ribble Borough Council and Chorley Council to review and update planning policy across the Central Lancashire area. You will make an important contribution to researching and delivering this new local planning policy and as such you should have an appropriate Town Planning-related qualification recognised by the Royal Town Planning Institute and will need to have a comprehensive understanding of statutory plan making procedures. You will need to be able to work productively within a team environment and act on your own initiative, working with minimal supervision.
