Our client is a Local Authority based in the East Midlands and they have a requirement for a Planning Policy Officer to join their dynamic Policy Team. You will be involved in a range of policy related work and be expected to contribute towards the development of planning policies in accordance with national policy, regulations and best practice. This is a fast paced team and you will have a real opportunity to shape the council's policy for the benefit of our residents.

Specifically this hire may be asked to prepare an Affordable Housing SPD working with the Strategic housing team as well as working on the following:
o Possible approach to small and windfall housing sites.
o Review of existing employment sites (in conjunction with the Business Focus Team Manager)
o Assessment of potential housing and employment sites as allocations
o Assessing potential Local Green spaces (in conjunction with other team members)

To apply for this role you will need previous experience within a local authority planning policy department. You will need to have a good knowledge of UK planning guidelines and relevant legislation and an appropriate level of qualification expected to undertake a role of this nature. You will need to be well organised with good data management skills and the ability to manage a large amount of complex information. Good communication skills are essential and you will need to be able to work with minimal supervision to deliver the project. A degree in planning or other appropriate professional qualification is required.

This role will be offered for an initial 3 month period and the rate offered will be between £27-£30 per hour. The actual hours and days of the week that the appointed candidate will be required to work are something which can be flexible and can be discussed with the successful candidate.
