These are exciting times for Tewkesbury Borough.  We have a challenging development agenda as the main growth centre at the economic heart of Gloucestershire as set out through our adopted Joint Core Strategy (JCS).

The borough is a vibrant and successful area of north Gloucestershire and faces the challenge of maximising the benefits of significant growth while enhancing the quality of life in our market towns and villages and retaining our beautiful landscape.

The Council is looking for a Planning Policy Officer, on an 18 month fixed term contract, to help us in meeting this challenge through the development of planning strategy for the area.

Reporting to the Planning Policy Manager, you will play an important role in progressing the emerging Tewkesbury Borough Plan and Neighbourhood Development Plans to provide the direction for growth at the local level underneath the JCS. As part of this you will participate in the preparation and review of planning policy and its supporting evidence base, and contributing towards the shape and development of communities and places.

You will be qualified planner with a good understanding and knowledge of plan making, including neighbourhood planning, and experience in community and stakeholder engagement. You will be committed and enthusiastic and willing to work as part of small, team to drive forward strategic planning projects in the Borough to deliver sustainable growth.
