Planning Officer (Development Control)
Rutland is one of the best places in the country to live, learn, work, play and visit. We may be the smallest Unitary Authority in England, but we can offer fantastic opportunities to make a real difference to the lives of the residents in our local community. This is your chance to become part of a great team, delivering great services throughout the County.
Rutland, from its beautiful ironstone and limestone villages to its historic towns of Oakham and Uppingham and the stunning Rutland Water, has a fantastic environment. We are looking for a Development Control Planner who wants to work in this quality environment and to deliver a quality service.
Responding to planning enquiries from a variety of stakeholders, you will be enthusiastic and committed to delivering outcomes for our customers. Handling all aspects of planning applications from receipt to presentation at Committee, you will negotiate amendments to proposals as necessary. The role will also see you assisting in enforcement and conservation duties. In addition, you will bring excellent IT and customer service skills to efficiently manage your caseload.
This post offers the opportunity for a graduate starting their career, a candidate who has experience working in a planning team as a technical / support officer or an experienced planner.
Previous experience of working in a planning department would be advantageous, however, this career graded post will provide opportunities to continue to develop your skills, knowledge and experience. For the right candidate, there may be an opportunity to work towards a planning degree.
We act as ‘One Council’ in all we do, with each of us working together in the most effective way to meet the needs of our customers every day – if you share this ethos then we very much want to hear from you.
