Senior/Principal Policy Town Planner
Our client is a local authority based in Berkshire and they require a Senior/Principal Policy Officer to join them for a contract role and assist them to deliver their Local Plan. Our client is developing a Local Plan which will capture major public and private investment in the town centre as well as Housing, Transport and Commercial development across the borough in order to create a positive legacy.
The successful hire to this role will be involved with producing planning policy documents, putting together the evidence base that supports the emerging Local Plan, and engaging with major strategic developments. You may also need to draft detailed delegated reports, present at committees, work with Members and our clients Duty to Cooperate Partners, engage with the Councils joint venture partner, and consult with local communities.
In order to carry out this role you will need at least 5-10 years of experience in working in a similar Senior/Principal role and you must have good knowledge of planning legislation and policy guidance in relation to national, regional and local plan making and associated legislative requirements. You will need to be well organised with good data management skills and the ability to manage a large amount of complex information. Good communication skills are essential and you will need to be able to work with minimal supervision to deliver the project. A degree in planning or other appropriate professional qualification is required.
The role will initially be offered as a 3 month contract but is expected to run on for longer then this and the rate will be around £33-£40/hr. Please get in touch for a copy of the job spec.
