About the Role

The Preston, South Ribble and Lancashire City Deal represents the largest coordinated investment in highway and transport infrastructure in Lancashire for forty years. The City Deal has accelerated the delivery of the County Council's transport programme published in the Central Lancashire Highways and Transport Masterplan. A capital programme exceeding £350 million will see three major road schemes, public transport improvements and public realm enhancements delivered to support housing development and economic growth across Preston and South Ribble. 

Responding to this challenge, a dedicated, multi-disciplinary City Deal Delivery Team was established providing civil engineering, transport planning and environmental planning resources to deliver this ambitious programme of works. An excellent opportunity has arisen for a planner to be part City Deal Delivery Team.

We are looking for an experienced Planner who is self-motivated and able to work in a pressured environment as a professional in the planning environment of the team.

You will be working as part of the planning section of this multi-disciplinary team whose responsibility is to prepare and submit the planning applications for major infrastructure projects and deliver these projects through to construction ensuring compliance with the conditions of the planning consents.

You will have opportunity to write the supporting documents for planning applications, Planning Statement, Design and Access Statement and chapters within the Environmental Statement and will undertake public consultations and provide support discharging of planning conditions. 
 

Skills and Experience

You will have 2 years post qualification relevant planning experience in public or private sector. You will have excellent report writing skills and be highly organised. You will have the ability to both work as part of a team and manage an individual workload. You will have strong communication skills and a through knowledge of planning processes and legislation. You will have good creative thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills. Be eligible for or working towards membership of the RTPI.
