Specialist – Development Management x3, with a specific focus on conservation/heritage, landscape architecture and urban design

Salary: £29,909 - £42,806 (Grade 6 – 8)                                     

Hours: Full-Time; 37 hours per week

We are seeking experienced and qualified/nearly qualified Development Management professionals to work as part of our Specialist team determining a wide range of interesting and complex planning applications. South Somerset has a rich heritage and cherished landscapes so we are looking for like-minded professionals who want to work with us to safeguard our landscapes, protect our heritage assets and shape development so South Somerset is a great place to live, work and play.

The key skills we are seeking to recruit include urban design (master planning), landscape architecture, listed building conservation and development control.

Ideally you will be professionally qualified (e.g.: RTPI, IHBC, LI, RIBA) with significant experience working within a local authority/private sector environment or hold a relevant degree and be actively working towards a recognised professional qualification. You should possess an excellent knowledge of the relevant technical guidance and current legislation, being able to demonstrate superb professional assessment skills applicable to more complex and technically challenging development proposals.

The successful candidates should be excellent team players who are experienced, enthusiastic, self-motivated and able to manage their own workload, work under pressure to deadlines and use their own initiative with minimal supervision. You need to be committed to delivering excellent customer focussed service. A full driving licence will be required for the post.
