Team Leader

Aberdeen is a forward looking and culturally vibrant City with a proud architectural heritage situated at the heart of a region with an enviable quality of life.

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual who can help shape and manage the developer obligation process at Aberdeen City Council.  The post holder will work with staff across the council to develop policies, lead engagement with the development industry and engage with community groups to secure and manage developer contributions relation to planning applications.

With allocations of over 20,000 houses and 209 hectares of employment land in its current Local Development Plan, Aberdeen City has experienced, and continues to experience, significant growth. This is reflected in the recent City Region Deal which saw Aberdeen City partnering with Aberdeenshire Council, the Scottish and UK Governments to deliver a 10 year £250 million housing, transportation and development program with a further £254 million committed by the Scottish Government. Focusing on regenerating the City Centre, the Council have also adopted the City Centre Masterplan, a 25 year multi million pound programme. The Council has also become the first local authority in Scotland to launch and complete a £370 million bond issue which will be used to invest in a substantial capital investment programme over the coming years. This is over and above the near £1 billion pound investment in both road and rail improvements across the City that are already under construction.

The provision of infrastructure and services will be intrinsic to supporting this growth. To help secure this, the role of Developer Obligations Team Leader has been created. Based at the iconic Marischal College in the City Centre the post holder will report directly to the Planning and Environmental Policy Manager.
