Could you help shape Woking’s future?

Located in the heart of Surrey yet within 25 minutes of Waterloo station, Woking is one of the leading towns in Surrey. The Council’s forward thinking attitude and pioneering approach to building sustainable communities makes the business of planning both exciting and challenging. Significant growth is planned with an emphasis on ambitious town centre regeneration to compliment recently delivered improvements such as Jubilee Square.

By contrast 60% of the borough is designated as Green Belt and benefits from extensive tree cover as well as forming the backdrop to a number of villages which retain much of their historic character. With its combination of attractive green spaces, excellent transport links and a thriving business community, Woking is a quality place to live and work.  You will play a leading part in planning for the delivery of high quality new development which respects and contributes to the diverse character and heritage of this dynamic borough.

We are looking for a qualified planner with a range of experience in local authority work to lead our Development Management Team.

You will have excellent communication and report writing skills as well as a commitment to customer focused services and adding value through planning.  You must be able to empathise with citizens, whilst having a mind set which can find solutions to the challenges facing the Council.

The Council offers in return the chance to develop your career in our progressive authority, a generous flexi-time scheme, membership of the local government pension scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, plus many more excellent benefits.
