As a Rights of Way Assistant you will investigate and resolve reported problems on public rights of way. You will assist with processing Public Path Orders and you will deal with members of the public and partner organisations in respect of rights of way enquiries. On a daily basis you can expect to be carrying out site visits around the district to survey Rights of Way and take appropriate action to ensure paths are available to the public including implementing repair and maintenance schemes.

You will be required to maintain accurate data and records and prepare draft Orders under relevant legislation. It is crucial that these are accurate and detailed as they will be presented to the County Secretary for translation into sealed order documents.

The role sits within planning and environmental services and would be well suited to a Town Planning graduate or those with an Enviro / Geography related qualification and an interest in mapping and planning related work. The role involves a significant amount of research related work and administration of data sets. You will need an excellent level of IT literacy. Any experience of mapping related software would be useful but it is not essential. Good communication skills are required and you will need to be confident in dealing with outside bodies on behalf of the council.

You will need to hold a clean driving license as you will be required to travel around the district. A pool car will be provided.

The role is based in Derbyshire, will run until the end of March 2019 and pay £13.89/hr (umbrella).
