Principal Planning Officer
Reading has an exciting, fast moving planning environment with considerable pressure for new development. The Council’s Planning Section requires an experienced and motivated planner to work in one of our development management area teams covering one half of the Borough. You will be dealing with planning case work, supervising staff and associated responsibilities.
Reporting to the Area Team Leader, your main duties will be processing mainly Major and complex planning applications and appeals, dealing with queries, complaints, pre-application enquiries and helping to mentor and supervise staff in one of 2 area teams.
You will have a degree in Planning or a relevant degree. You will have at least 5 years’ experience in a planning office and be able to demonstrate an ability to effectively manage the development and performance of other professional and technical officers and to deliver high quality planning decisions.
