Principal Enforcement Officer

Applications are invited for the above post to work within the Place Directorate.

The Planning service is integral to the delivery of the Council’s growth agenda. The successful candidate will act as a senior member of the Development Management Team and support the Planning Manager in delivering an effective and efficient service and contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the investigation of complaints and to ensure appropriate enforcement action is taken to remedy breaches of planning legislation. You will also be expected to assess, make recommendations on and determine high level, complex and challenging planning applications, provide advice and guidance to colleagues, represent the Council in appeals and take delegated decisions on behalf of the Council in accordance with the scheme of delegations.

You will need to be an excellent communicator, well organised and self motivated and able to work as part of a supportive team. You will work to tight deadlines and be flexible.

You will have experience of working within a Development Management Planning Team and dealing with a wide range of planning applications
