About the role
We are offering an exciting opportunity for planning officers to join a vibrant team responsible for the preparation, monitoring and review of the development plan in Wiltshire, including neighbourhood planning.
As part of the team, you will be involved in the monitoring of development plan policy, and production and gathering of evidence to support the development of planning policy.
Joining the service at an exciting time, you will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of projects, including progression of the council’s housing site allocations plan, the local plan review, minerals and waste planning, as well as annual monitoring and reporting on housing and employment land delivery.
Senior Planning Officers
As a senior planning officer, you will be influential in shaping planning policies for Wiltshire on a range of challenging subject matters across urban and rural environments.
You will take a lead role in either progressing the review of the council’s minerals and waste planning policy framework working collaboratively with Swindon Borough Council or leading on sustainability appraisal for our local plan review.
You will also be involved in wider corporate programmes including regeneration projects, neighbourhood planning and working closely with development management on the implementation of planning policy.
We are seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic and professional individuals who have a real passion for the economy and environment, who want to make a difference to our people and communities within Wiltshire.
As a planning officer, you will ideally hold a Royal Town Planning Institute accredited post-graduate qualification, with at least 1 years’ worth of post-graduate experience in planning, preferably within a policy environment.
As a senior planning officer, you will have a degree in planning or related discipline and higher qualification accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute, ideally with significant practical experience in mineral or waste planning or sustainability appraisal, preferably within a planning policy environment. It would be helpful for you to outline any experience in your application. You will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of planning policy at national and local level. Your strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with different audiences will also be important in taking forward this role.
