Service Manager, City Design

This is an opportunity to manage and lead Bristol City Council’s creative and award-winning City Design Group, influencing future changes to the City, and contributing to maintaining Bristol as an attractive place to live, work, and visit.
You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across the City including; strategic green infrastructure, regeneration areas, mixed use and housing masterplans, and public realm schemes.
You will take a strategic specialist and professional lead responsibility for City Design, promoting the achievement of exemplary urban design policy in development across the City, provide place based project shaping and design advice to Development Management and other Council directorates; and take lead advocacy role to drive design quality of Council projects and City wide development proposals.
You will also lead the Placeshaping and Urban Design teams which respond to the urban design, public realm, historic environment and heritage needs of the City; and the Engineering Design team, which provides a comprehensive civil engineering design service.
Developing design policy and guidance at the Citywide and local levels, you will develop and shape place based regeneration and projects; and provide historic environment, urban and public realm, design advice.
