Salary Scale: Career Graded Scale 4 to SO2: £18,870 to £30,756 per annum (Subject to Job Evaluation).  Scale of appointment is subject to qualifications and experience.

Bassetlaw is an attractive District in north Nottinghamshire, with an interesting mix of urban and rural environments. We are a dynamic, forward thinking Local Authority, presently preparing a Local Plan and actively pursuing a growth agenda. The district is an exciting place to work given that it has a lot of development presently underway and a plethora of exciting projects planned for the future. Located at Queen’s Buildings in Worksop, an opportunity has arisen for an Officer to join our Planning Policy Team.

You will contribute fully to the preparation, adoption and subsequent implementation of a new Local Plan for Bassetlaw. This will involve carrying out surveys, analysis and background research in respect of planning and policy formulation. You will also carry out monitoring of development trends and prepare planning briefs, supplementary planning documents and other guidance. You will also arrange and implement consultation exercises in respect of draft policies and proposals and other planning guidance. In addition you will work with other departments and authorities to support decision-making on a variety of planning matters including planning applications. 

Among other qualities, you will have:

  • Experience of working in a planning environment
  • Working towards, or obtained a relevant qualification in Town Planning or appropriate equivalent qualification
  • Full membership or working towards becoming a member of the RTPI   
  • Strong communication and report writing skills
