About the role
Due to the increasing number of planning and rural affairs policy areas requiring focus from the NFU, we are seeking an additional Senior Planning and Rural Affairs Adviser. This role will work alongside our current Senior Planning & Rural Affairs Adviser.
You will be responsible for leading NFU activity on planning and policy development for rural affairs to maximise opportunities for farm business to become more profitable and productive.
You will lead on the development and delivery of advice on identified rural planning policy and rural affairs issues to our members. Therefore experience of influencing key policy documentation is essential. The role will also involve working closely with appropriate HQ and Regional colleagues and providing briefing material for National and Regional Officeholders. The successful candidate will need to be an effective networker, to ensure the impact of policy change is communicated swiftly and effectively to a range of different audiences, including NFU Officeholders and senior staff.
You will ideally be educated to degree level and hold either a relevant postgraduate or professional qualification in planning, rural economy or surveying. Knowledge of local and regional planning policy issues will be advantageous, as will experience of lobbying, promotion and advisory services.
