About Us:

As the caretakers of Westminster, the thriving City Council team are unashamedly proud of our work. On a day-to-day basis, we enjoy supporting the political, commercial, social and tourist heart of London. With our remit stretching from the creative delights of Covent Garden to the grandeur of Knightsbridge and Mayfair, we are a Local Authority with a difference.

The Role:

Across this vast area of London, we endeavour to ensure our vibrant neighbourhoods work well for residents, workers, businesses and visitors. It’s a complex challenge, but is one that we relish – particularly as our work takes us anywhere from Soho to Notting Hill East. As such, our Public Protection & Licensing team are a hugely important factor in securing this happy medium.

About You:

In this important position, you will support the planning enforcement team in their endeavours to resolve breaches of planning control relating to properties that have been unlawfully let-out short-term. Conducting site visits, you will investigate the circumstances and conduct research and interviews, ultimately initiating procedures for enforcement action if appropriate. We want Westminster to be fantastic for everyone – and we apply the same ethos to our staff. We want you to excel in our team, so we will support your aspirations with key development opportunities. We will therefore expect you to have a degree or diploma in Town Planning, with knowledge of planning law and procedures relating to enforcement. If you’ve got the communication and IT skills to make the most of this desirable challenge, then we’ve got the capacity to help you achieve your goals.

What We Offer:

If you’re as productive as you are ambitious and collaborative as you are enterprising, this is your chance to take real ownership of your work, right in the heart of iconic Westminster, a true ‘City for All’. This is a unique place where it all happens. And where it could all happen for you. As a progressive and innovative organisation, we welcome applications from candidates keen to work in an agile environment with flexible conditions.
