Seeing new communities take shape.  That’s when it hits home.

We have a brilliant opportunity for a Senior Planner (known internally at Home Group as a Planning Advisor) to join our award winning team (did you know we’re winners of best house at the What House Awards 2018?).  You’ll provide planning input and advice working across the design, development and delivery phases of our new homes pipeline.  You’ll be supporting colleagues across the team advising on planning matters, complex planning issues, responding to Local Planning Authority’s policies/requirements and ensuring we secure positive planning outcomes so we can build our brilliant new homes.

You’ll be working for David, our Head of Design, whose passion for high quality design is only rivalled by his love of sweet treats and fine black coffee. He also has a mild stationary addiction (so bolt down your stuff!).  This is a team who put their hearts into making each a house a home that our customer’s will love.  From well-planned spaces to contemporary architecture we design homes that are for living with a wide variety of choice.

If this is your passion too, then you’ll really fit in here! If you want to do awesome things as part of a brilliant team… join us at Home Group!  You’ll find plenty more about the role in our job description.

It’s a really exciting time to join Home Group!  We are currently undergoing a significant period of growth and change that will enable us to build more homes, independence and aspirations – the vision that underpins our five-year strategy. Our ambition to build 10,000 new homes, be market leaders in New Models of Care and significantly increase our digital capability is in the hands of our brilliant people.

A bit about you

It goes without saying that you’ll have a relevant degree in Town Planning or equivalent and be a member of the RPTI.  With a brilliant knowledge of planning law and procedures, you’ll bring experience of working for another housing provider, developer or local authority.  You'll have a background in planning focusing on residential properties in urban and rural settings.  If you’re solutions focused, intuitively collaborative and a great influencer, then this is the cherry on the cake (or should we say the sold sign on the door!).

A bit about us

We are Home Group, one of the UK’s largest developers of new homes and providers of houses for affordable rent.  We also provide long term integrated housing, health and social care housing.  We are proud of the difference that we have made over the last 80 years and we continue to work hard to support 120,000 customers in 55,000 homes across the UK.  With a turnover of £350m and more than 3000 colleagues, you will be joining a robust, dynamic and inclusive organisation with a strong social mission at its heart.

We’re also a strategic partner of Homes England, working together to disrupt the way we do things across UK housing to build the affordable homes our country needs.

Oh, did we mention that we rank No. 27 in the UK’s Best Large Places to work and are winners of Development Programme of the Year 2018 at the Housing Awards and of course winners of Best House at the What House Awards 2018?

Working flexibly

It’s the team’s unwritten rule that you attend the important appointments in life, be it your child’s school play, your partner’s graduation, or to get your new fridge delivered. You can elect to fit these around your working day taking advantage of our agile ways of working. Our focus is on getting the job done, not your working hours!

What’s on offer?

There’s lots!  Including: competitive salaries, performance related pay, a contributory occupational money-purchase pension scheme with life assurance and long term disability insurance, 25 days paid holiday a year rising by 1 day per year up to 30 days, with the ability to purchase an extra 5 days, salary sacrifice schemes including cycle, car and technology, heavily discounted AA membership, gyms and savings on high street stores, holidays and restaurants amongst many others.

The job for you?

Great, all you need to do now is upload a covering letter and your CV.  If you would prefer to have a chat about the role first, then contact us on our Home Group Facebook Careers page.  You can also find out more about us (including our covering letter template if you need this and more details on how to apply) on our website atwww.homegroup.org.uk/careers.
