Senior Planning Officer (Development Management)
Salary – £29,213 to £39,445 per annum (Grades F-G) (dependant on qualifications and experience) plus car allowance
Folkestone & Hythe District Council, based in Folkestone, Kent, serves a population of 108,000 and covers a district of 140 square miles.

With a modern office based a couple of minutes from the train station with high speed services to London, we offer a flexible working environment and are seeking a Senior Planning Officer to work as part of a multi-disciplinary Development Management Team. We have an exciting range of major applications coming forward, including a proposed garden town at Otterpool Park.
The post holder will be expected to be educated to degree level, have a professionally recognised planning qualification and either be a member of the RTPI or be eligible for membership.
The post holder will also have excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, councillors, professional agents and other members of staff, working both on their own initiative and as part of a team. We are looking for someone with either public or private sector experience of dealing with a wide planning and related applications, including major applications. You will also have experience of appearing at public inquiries and/or informal hearings.
The Council has recently started an ambitious transformation programme to model how it works in order to support a new agile way of working, helping staff to become more flexible and responsive to the needs of the customer whilst responding to significant changes in technology.
