SENIOR PLANNING ADVISOR at HOMES FOR SCOTLAND

1 YEAR FROM LATE MAY 2019

Homes for Scotland is a membership organisation representing the Scottish home building industry. Our core purpose is to deliver more homes for Scotland. Our membership includes private builders and RSLs as well as associate members drawn from supporting sectors and professional services.

We are looking to appoint a town planning professional into Homes for Scotland for 1 year to cover the maternity leave of a core member of our planning team.

This provides a rare opportunity to gain direct experience of the planning system, policy and culture from a private sector / stakeholder / customer perspective; and to see how planning can impact on housing delivery.

Our planning team provides a comprehensive development planning and housing land audit service for our home builder members. We respond to all development plan and relevant guidance consultations in the planning authority areas in which our members are active (most of mainland Scotland). We also provide industry advice on draft housing land audits and on the preparation of housing need and demand assessments.

Between formal consultations, we work with our members to build constructive relationships with planning authorities and other stakeholders, sharing information and experience to improve the understanding and respect between the authorities tasked with making plans and the businesses relied upon to implement them.

In October we launched our new 5-year Strategy. At its heart is our core purpose – to deliver more homes for Scotland. To do that we need to positively influence a wide range of stakeholders; improve the understanding and image of the industry; and to support a growing membership. Our planning team plays an important role across those objectives.

We are aiming to appoint at Senior Planning Advisor level. We believe this would suit an early or mid-career planner, who wishes to support our drive to deliver more homes.

In particular, you will be responsible for our day to day planning work for South East Scotland, Highland and Moray and Aberdeen City and Shire.
