Neighbourhood Planning Officer 

Part time 22.2 hours per week and 12 month fixed term contract from date of appointment

We are looking for a motivated individual keen to work with and advise local communities in the development of their Neighbourhood Plans. You will be the primary point of contact for communities with the Council and will manage the Council’s involvement.

You will provide appropriate technical advice, undertake, supervise and advise on community involvement and consultation with all appropriate stakeholders in relation to Neighbourhood Plans in the Borough.

You will be a Chartered Member of the RTPI. You will have an up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations relating to Neighbourhood Planning, and a good knowledge and understanding of the Local Plan process - in addition you will be assisting in the preparation of the Borough’s Joint Local Plan, which is being prepared jointly with the neighbouring Stoke-on-Trent City Council. You will be expected to have experience of:

  • engaging and consulting with communities and the public,
  • working within a regulatory framework,
  • analysing problems and identifying practical solutions,

You will have good negotiation and communication skills, and IT knowledge.  You will be self-motivated and committed to providing a quality service, with a flexible work attitude and the ability to work as part of a team or alone without close supervision.
