Opportunities at the Office of the Planning Regulator

The Office of the Planning Regulator is recruiting staff to help carry out its statutory functions, and implement processes and procedures to ensure the smooth running of the Office from its outset.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a new public body that will enhance the quality of planning in Ireland, and to ensure the sustainable development of the country into the future.

The Planning & Development (Amendment) Act 2018 which provides statutory footing for the establishment of the Office outlines the OPR’s powers, inter alia:

  • Independent assessment of local authority forward plans: Development Plans and Local Area Plans;
  • Investigative powers to examine, inter alia , possible systemic failings in the planning system;
  • Research, training and education on a national scale for practitioners and the Public.

The Office is now seeking applications from suitably qualified individuals for the following positions:

  • Deputy Regulator and Director of Evaluation of Local Authority Plans
  • Director, Planning Reviews and Examinations
  • Director of Planning Research, Training, and Public Awareness
  • Assistant Director, Planning Reviews and Examinations
  • Senior Planner x 4 (a panel of successful candidates may be formed)
  • Higher Executive Officer (Communications), Statutory Plans Evaluation Team
  • GIS Officer (HEO), Statutory Plans Evaluation Team
  • Executive Officer
  • Clerical Officer
