Stratford-on-Avon District Council needs enthusiastic planners who can meet the challenge of working in a busy, high performing planning authority.

Based in the attractive market town of Stratford-upon-Avon the successful candidate will be working within a dedicated and supportive team handling a significant caseload of minor applications of all types.  We are looking for someone who will enjoy processing planning applications, appeals, pre-application enquiries, and all related planning matters in a dynamic and geographically diverse District.

Opportunities will be available to handle proposals for residential, commercial, and employment schemes in both rural and market town contexts and to get to grips with proposals within the West Midlands Green Belt and Cotswolds AONB.

Experience in development management is highly desirable for this role as the successful candidate must have knowledge of planning legislation, guidance, and operation of the planning system as it applies to the development management function of a Local Planning Authority. It will also be important that you can demonstrate an ability to rapidly understand plans and drawings and be able to compile reports in a clear and easily understood way. A positive approach to development management, a commitment to improving design, and an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and Planning Committee members is a key aspiration for this post.

You should have a degree or postgraduate qualification in planning or related discipline and ideally either be a member of, or be working towards membership of, the RTPI.

For an informal discussion please contact Karen Tate, Team Leader (Planners –East) on 01789 260359, or David Jeffery, Team Leader, (Planners – West) on 01789 260323.

In addition to an open and friendly environment, you’ll enjoy an excellent benefits package including BUPA, potential for job share a minimum of 23 days annual leave, flexi-time, and access to the Local government Pension Scheme and office car park.

An application form and job description can be accessed via the website, by clicking on the 'Apply Button', alternatively telephone the 24 hour answering service on (01789) 260711, or e-mail sitsvac@stratford-dc.gov.uk.  The minicom number for Elizabeth House is (01789) 260747.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Wednesday, 22 May 2019.

Interviews will be held w/c 27 May 2019.
