Spatial Planning Lead Officer

Salary Range: £40,449 - £45,524 per annum

Work Location: Elizabeth II Court, Winchester

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the pro-active Strategic Planning section at Hampshire County Council. Strategic Planning is responsible for delivering the County Council's planning service, and this role sits within the Strategy and Policy team.

We are looking for a confident, dynamic and highly motivated individual to take a leading role in spatial planning matters including strategic infrastructure planning, funding and delivery for the County Council.

Ideally a planning professional, you will be responsible for:

  • Working with colleagues across the council in identifying Hampshire's spatial planning, infrastructure needs and funding requirements for the future;
  • Managing the spatial planning land supply and other data which is provided to other Council departments, local authorities and other organisations;
  • Liaising with the districts and boroughs within Hampshire on Local Plan preparation to ensure the County Council's requirements are represented in the process;
  • Coordinating the County Council's involvement in strategic development projects; and
  • Advising on spatial planning and infrastructure funding policies (such as the Community Infrastructure Levy and developer contributions secured under section 106 agreements).

There will also be opportunities for you to work with government departments and other organisations on strategic spatial planning and infrastructure issues, working proactively to deliver the best outcome for the residents of Hampshire.

The County Council operates flexible working, with opportunities to work from home and work compressed hours, to help its staff maintain a good work/life balance.  The role is full time (37 hours), but an alternative working pattern will be considered for the right candidate.
