Shape the landscape for half a million Londoners

London’s growth offers more challenges and opportunities than ever for lead Planning roles, so imagine what it’s like working across not one but two major Boroughs. As the jointly employed Assistant Director responsible for Planning & Transport Strategy, you’ll be doing exactly that. You’ll be serving over 500,000 residents and thousands of businesses across an area that stretches from the Green Belt at London’s edge to the new American Embassy close to its heart. It’s a chance to work on everything from the protection of Richmond’s rich built heritage through to the largest regeneration site in the country at Battersea and Nine Elms in Wandsworth.

This is a rare opportunity to work flexibly across two high-performing London Boroughs through our unique Shared Staffing Arrangement (SSA). To succeed, you’ll have proven ability to convert place shaping aspirations into deliverable policy documents and solid experience of delivering a range of Planningrelated services. With this background, you’ll know all about relevant legislation and managing contracts and budgets. Plus, you’ll be adept at handling conflicting demands and delivering change and positive outcomes. Above all, you’ll know how to navigate the political landscape and forge strong relationships quickly. It’s essential you have the communication skills to influence at the highest levels and to inspire teams to perform at their best.
