Principal Planning Officer (Planning Policy)
The Planning Policy team have begun a review of its current Gosport Borough Local Plan 2011-2029 which was adopted in October 2015. The successful candidate will enjoy a varied and interesting range of work and will have the opportunity to assist in the delivery of large and complex developments sites within a supportive, team based working environment.
The Planning and Regeneration Service is committed to providing a high quality service for the benefit of all our stakeholders so that we can make a real and positive difference. We are looking for an enthusiastic and able planner who is a good team member as well as being self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative. The postholder will need to work closely with the Manager of Planning Policy to deliver the Local Plan Review in accordance with an agreed programme. You will need to be able to represent the Council in an assured and professional manner at meetings, public events and the forthcoming Examination in Public for the Local Plan Review.
You must hold a post-graduate degree in Town and Country Planning or equivalent and be a member, or eligible for membership, of the Royal Town Planning Institute. You will need to have a thorough understanding of a range of planning issues and have excellent written and verbal skills to be able to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
