Principal Planner 45206 CEHE

County Hall, Norwich

Competitive salary up to £45,384 per annum + excellent relocation package

At NCC we’re responsible for all elements of minerals and waste planning, dealing with an average of 500 cases per year and monitoring the performance of over 200 mineral and waste facilities located across the county. We are also responsible for the council’s own development proposals.

We’re looking for a Principal Planner to manage the development, promotion and implementation of Norfolk County Council’s minerals and waste planning policies. You’ll manage the performance of team members and external contractors in the delivery of a professional planning service and influence development proposals by negotiating with developers, infrastructure providers and key stakeholders to secure appropriate development. Where necessary you will lead on enforcement action to ensure operations are complaint with planning controls.

You’ll represent the authority’s interests at public meetings and provide advice to government, Councillors, District and Parish Councils, local businesses, amenity societies and the public on planning matters including complex and sometimes contentious issues.

With full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (or eligibility) and ideally membership of a relevant professional sector body such as the Chartered Institute of Waste Management, you’ll evidence continuous professional development.

You’ll bring experience of working in a professional town planning capacity, demonstrate providing professional advice on complex planning matters and will have participated in public inquiries, examinations or enforcement cases at court.

In return we offer the opportunity to harness your skills in mineral and waste planning and work in a beautiful part of the country. With a competitive salary, a friendly and supportive team and an excellent relocation package, this is a perfect opportunity to use your expertise to make a difference to the county of Norfolk.

Workplace feedback states County Hall is a modern, business-like, bright and smart environment to work in.
