Stretching from Winchester to Eastbourne, the South Downs National Park contains over 1600km2 of some of England’s most iconic landscapes.  With a population of over two million living in or within 5kms of the park boundary the pressures on development to meet community needs and enhance visitor experiences whilst at the same time conserve this unique environment can be challenging.

As part of our strategy to meet these challenges the SDNPA have been working in partnership with our local communities and have now successfully adopted the SDNPAs first local plan. The focus for this role will be working across the whole of planning policy and the wider organisation to ensure the delivery of the full range of planning outcomes.  This includes planning policy, the implementation of the Partnership Management Plan and supporting neighbourhood development plans both within and outside the National Park.

The successful candidate will be a capable and enthusiastic planner with experience and knowledge across the broad planning spectrum.  You will need to be able to successfully manage a variety of different projects and strands of work but most importantly be a strong team player as this post will require matrix working across the whole organisation in order to deliver positive outcomes.
