Your new organisation
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is a unitary authority based in the heart of the town centre offering traditional seaside living that makes it a great place to live and work. This diverse and busy town has great public parks and leisure activities, competitive house pricing and excellent travel links. The Council are looking to appoint a Policy Planning Officer to deliver their direction on strategy and policy for the Southend new Local Plan.
Your new role
As the Policy Planning Officer, you will work on a variety of projects linked to delivering the Southend new Local Plan. You will be involved with projects which will truly shape the future of Southend as a place, helping to delivery towards the Southend 2050 ambition. This will include assisting with evidence preparation, planning policy formulation and responding to a wide range of consultations. This may also involve working with neighbouring authorities on several exciting projects in the wider area.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful for this role you will need to have a degree in town or urban planning, geography or similar and have experience of contributing to planning policy and evidence-based documents. Knowledge of planning policy preparation and the associated legislation is essential. Eligibility for membership of the RTPI is desirable.
