Associate Town Planner - Client Side - 18 Month FTC

Opportunity:

A developer are looking to bring in an Associate Town Planner to cover a maternity leave for 18 months.

This client are an environmental developer who specialise in the building of solar farms with sites globally. They are looking for a commercially minded Associate Town Planner to lead the London team (with three direct reports) and ensure effective planning applications are written, submitted and guided through the UK system. You will lead on the key developments while mentoring & training the team of planners working with you.

Often you'll be working on large scale developments, requiring a high level of stakeholder management. A large part of this position will involve managing community leaders, land owners, and external stakeholders that are involved with the development such as architects. Internally, you'll be working closely with all teams, especially the land team who work with the planners on site acquisition. While projects span the globe, your focus will be on UK developments.

This role is an 18 month fixed term contract, covering a maternity leave for a key member of the team. It's the perfect opportunity for an experienced Senior / Principal Planner to step up into a leading position within an international developer, or alternatively an Associate looking for more autonomy in their role.

Experience Required:

• Strong experience in leading on large scale complex planning applications. Preference will be given to anyone who has expertise on solar, energy, utility or infrastructure experience. Good private sector experience is a must.
• Experience in managing colleagues, providing training and mentorship.
• Stakeholder engagement / control expertise, being able to drive projects forwards.
• Relevant town planning degree - MRTPI
