Purpose and Objectives of the Role

We are seeking a qualified Town Planner with at least five years’ experience to become part of our Planning team involved in development management, master planning, promoting development plan allocations for landowners and developers and negotiating developer interests with planning authorities and their statutory consultees. Our core Planning business involves the preparation of planning applications and appeals, local development plan representations, policy and site appraisals and supporting information, often in collaboration with architects, engineers, environmental specialists and other professionals. Full membership of the RTPI is essential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of client services
  • Take responsibility for a variety of small, medium to large scale projects across all development sectors, including housing, tourism, hotels, estates and other commercial
  • Establish networking avenues to promote our business
  • Manage projects including planning applications (major and local), Development Plans submissions and appeals
  • Assess sites for development suitability
  • Liaise with planning officers, architects, consultants and other third parties
  • Prepare planning appraisals for new potential projects
  • Undertake research and analysis for sites, including planning policy and case history
  • Complete projects within budget

Main Conditions of Employment

  • Full time hours – 35 per week 9.00 am – 5.00 pm Mon – Thurs, 9.00 am – 4.30 pm Friday
  • Part time – 14 - 21 hours/week
  • Holidays – five weeks plus eleven public holidays
  • Salary – negotiable according to qualification and experience
