Benefits:  + £2,400 p.a. Grade Allowance + Flexible working!

An area taking off!

You are probably most aware of our area for the World renowned biennial Farnborough International Airshow but Farnborough really is a place that is taking off!

A significant new development of nearly 4,000 new homes has commenced on surplus Ministry of Defence land, plus large town centre regeneration schemes across both Aldershot and Farnborough make this an exciting and attractive place to live and work outside of London.

Where are we?

The Borough has excellent transport communications; it is close to the M3 motorway and is only 30 minutes from London by train.  The Council offices are located close to Farnborough Town Centre, and within walking distance of Farnborough Main railway station.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a motivated, able and suitably qualified Principal Planning Officer to take on an important role in our established Development Management Team.

The successful candidate will have a degree or professional qualification in Planning, and experience in Local Authority Development Management including as case officer on major applications, together with membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. You will need good computing and oral and written communication skills, understand our commitment and focus on the needs of our customers, and have sound, practical and applied knowledge of key planning legislation and current government guidance and initiatives.

You should provide evidence that you possess the confidence and skills to help facilitate change through corporate working on joint projects through attending and contributing to corporate working groups across the Council on a range of subjects. Overall, you will be eager and enthusiastic to learn and develop within the post and more corporately, to deliver the objectives of organisational development.

The role will encompass reporting and presentation to the Council’s Development Management Committee, and line management and mentoring of two or three other staff members.

We have a newly adopted local plan and as an organisation we are presiding over and facilitating an ambitious programme of regeneration projects. Your ability to take the initiative in problem solving complex issues, managing your own workload and meeting deadlines will be fundamental.

Timescales

Application deadline: Midnight Sunday 22nd September

Interviews: Interviews will be conducted after we have reviewed your application and we reserve the right to interview before the application deadline.
