Appointment of a Senior Commissioner

Remuneration will be in the range of £56,002 to £59,277 per annum

The Department of Justice (DoJ) wishes to appoint a Senior Commissioner to The Planning and Water Appeals Commissions (PACWAC).

The Planning Appeals Commission (PAC) and Water Appeals Commission (WAC) are Tribunal NDPB’s of the DoJ and are administratively supported by the Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service (NICTS). They have a range of statutory functions relating to planning and environmental matters to decide appeals from decisions by Local Government, Assembly Departments and to report to Assembly Departments on matters which those Departments refer to the Commissions.

The post of Senior Commissioner requires strong decision making skills and a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of planning policy and legislation as it is applied within a tribunal context. It is a highly pressurised role which requires personal commitment and drive for the achievement of results.

This is a full-time, permanent appointment

The Commissions are currently located at Park House, Belfast and it is the normal office location for a Senior Commissioner.

Remuneration will be in the range of £56,002 to £59,277 per annum.

This competition may be used to fill any additional vacancies that arise in the next 12 months.
