SENIOR POLICY PLANNER (INFRASTRUCTURE)

Salary: Starting (J) at £40,581 p.a. increasing to £42,727 p.a. following 12 months satisfactory performance

Are you looking for a fresh challenge in planning policy, with a focus on sustainable development and the infrastructure to support it? If you thrive on action, you will love Dartford.  Working for an ambitious authority located on the edge of London, no two days will be the same. We have strong housing and commercial delivery taking place across the Borough, including at Ebbsfleet, and exciting proposals to transform Dartford town centre. You will make a critical input into the new Local Plan currently being prepared.  We have a clear strategic vision of how development will be distributed, and sites have been identified to meet our housing and employment needs. Our approach is to plan the infrastructure in tandem with site identification, through the Local Plan.

As well as taking a lead on this infrastructure planning and its funding through S106s and CIL, you will get involved in other aspects of Local Plan preparation.

We are looking for a multi-talented individual with strong experience of Local Plan preparation and planning policy to join our team.  Knowledge/ experience of infrastructure planning, development viability and use of S106 or CIL regimes to support infrastructure delivery would be desirable. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential as you will need to liaise with a range of stakeholders.  If you enjoy a challenge and like to make a positive difference in your work, we would love to hear from you.

Benefits: Career average pension scheme, professional fee payment, flexible working including possibility of some remote working, free on-site parking, employee benefits package and generous leave entitlement. The Council’s offices are in a highly accessible location, next to Dartford station with frequent services from Central London (Oyster Card coverage) and North Kent.  Road connections via the M25 and A2 are also excellent.

For an information discussion please call Mark Aplin, Planning Policy Manager on 01322 343202.
