We are looking for two Strategic Planners to join our Development Advice teams in North East and Yorkshire and North West Regions. The North of England has a distinctive heritage, with 2000 years of history in York and Chester, the great ecclesiastical centres of Northumbria, the cotton and wool mills of the Pennines, and the heavy industry and mining legacy of South Yorkshire, Durham and Northumberland. The region also covers spectacular rural landscapes, which boast heritage assets such as Hadrian`s Wall and the Lake District World Heritage Site.

You will help us to shape and care for these places and will take lead responsibility for providing expert planning policy advice to partners and colleagues. You will help maximise opportunities for the historic environment in development plans, regeneration projects and local strategies across the regions, including representing us at Examinations in Public.

The posts will complement our existing planning adviser resource in Manchester. The office location is flexible (Manchester, York or Newcastle), though at least one post must be based in York or Newcastle.

To be successful in this role you will be a planner keen to share your knowledge and experience of both the historic environment and other planning sectors such as transport and housing. You will have a thorough understanding and substantial experience of the UK planning system along with demonstrable skills of influencing, and engaging positively with, stakeholders. As a strong team player with good interpersonal skills, you will enjoy working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team based in the northern offices.

We offer a wide benefits package including a competitive pension scheme, 28 days holiday, corporate discounts and free entry into English Heritage sites.

If you would like to discuss the roles further, please contact Neil Redfern on 01904 601897.

Closing date:  25 November 2019

Interviews are expected to be held on 5th and 6th December in our York office. Candidates will only be required for one of those days.

We are an equal opportunity employer which values diversity and inclusion. If you have a disability, we would be happy to discuss reasonable adjustments to the job with you. We very much look forward to receiving your application.
