Job Details

Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Service is a strategic partnership between Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire District Councils. The Councils deal with a huge variety of work from domestic extensions to new towns and villages. We have an ambition to be one of the best planning services in the country and we need you to help us deliver that ambition by forging a high performing technical support service.

We are seeking an experienced manager with the passion to develop their team to meet the diverse technical support challenges of urban and rural planning.  Your key responsibility will be to ensure high quality, consistent delivery of the full range of statutory and non-statutory planning services required to support the planning process.  You will also have the opportunity to demonstrate your initiative by proposing and implementing changes to improve efficiency and make a real difference to end-user experience.

The successful Technical Support Team Manager will be able to:

  • demonstrate strong leadership, effective management and take responsibility for decisions, within delegations, on a daily basis.
  •           provide mentoring and support for staff in the wider team.
  •           manage performance and risk issues for appropriate elements of the service; and actively contribute to the activities of the shared service operational management team.

In addition to a positive and supportive working environment with opportunities for development, we offer flexible working, generous holiday entitlement and membership of the Local Authority pension scheme.

If you feel that you have the drive and vision to carry out this role to its full potential we would love to hear from you.
