Are you looking for a challenge, and a diverse range of work? Do you want to work in an innovative, positive team that shapes and develops the places we live and work in?

If so apT want to hear from you.

This is an exciting opportunity to join apT, a pioneering public sector development consultancy, which is part of Telford & Wrekin Council. apT brings together a dynamic team of Planners, Building Surveyors, Highway Engineers, Built Heritage Specialists, Ecologists, and other key specialisms. From the processing of regulatory applications within Telford & Wrekin, to the provision of enhanced services across the region, we are passionate about tailoring spaces and creating places.

From the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and one of the UK’s first World Heritage Sites, Telford is the fastest growing town in the West Midlands, delivering more than 76 hectares of employment and circa 17,000 new homes over our plan period up to 2031.

Telford offers an exciting opportunity to develop your career! Rich in heritage and natural beauty, Telford is the heart of Shropshire, with a vibrant centre, that’s currently expanding; a 450 acre town park with numerous leisure facilities; excellent transport links, Telford is the gateway between the midlands and Wales.

As a destination of vibrant places, people and experiences Telford has grown and developed into a hub of innovation and investment, that is committed to enabling sustainable development.

We’re not afraid of a challenge – are you?

The Role:
You will play a key role within the Planning Team, supporting the delivery of housing and investment with external stakeholders - including landowners, developers and external agencies, delivering practical solutions to bring forward housing and economic developments, unlocking sites, and coordinating stakeholders.

You will also help to deliver the Councils statutory service, in the preparation, monitoring, review and implementation of the Development Plan for the borough.

As part of apT you will also have the opportunity to support external clients, in the site representation outside of the borough.

You will have a background in Planning, Housing or Economic Development, with experience of coordinating and managing development delivery; and an understanding of the development sector, and ideally financial development viability factors.
