Conservation Officer

Salary:    £26,317

Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire

We seek an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our small, friendly and professional built heritage team based in the market town of Beverley, a highly desirable place to live.

The East Riding of Yorkshire is one of the country’s largest unitary authorities with a wealth of varied and interesting heritage assets, ranging from stately homes, parks and gardens, farmhouses, cottages to industrial buildings and maritime architecture.  We also have over one hundred settlements which have designated Conservation Areas.

This is a challenging, technical but very rewarding post and you will spend most of your time working in this varied historic environment, carrying out the statutory duties of the council in respect of its built heritage and considering new development in conservation areas.

As part of the council’s specialist Building Conservation team, you will provide advice to planning officers, developers, land owners, members and the general public.

You must hold, or be working towards, an appropriate qualification and have experience in dealing with Listed Buildings and development in Conservation Areas.

BENEFITS: discounted leisure centre membership, staff discount scheme, payment of professional fees and potential for flexible working arrangements.  You will be based in a beautiful part of the country, working for a council which is nationally recognised as one of the best in the country.
