We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious and committed Planner to join our busy Policy and Plans Group.  You will be involved in a diverse range of projects including the preparation, implementation and monitoring of planning policy and related project work.  Immediate responsibilities include planning for city centre pedestrian route enhancement, planning for student housing and green space monitoring.

Leeds City Council is one of the largest and most diverse local authorities in the UK with a programme to deliver growth in the context of 21st Century infrastructure and address the needs of all.  The Council has recently declared a climate emergency and has a commitment to deliver inclusive growth and deliver health and well-being benefits to all communities.   

This is a key role within the Council and we would expect that you will have a clear understanding of the current planning legislation and guidance in England and the importance of the plan-led system of planning alongside the need for quality evidence in supporting the delivery of development.  You must hold either a relevant degree qualification, and have relevant experience of similar roles or commensurate experience sufficient to meet the employee specification.

You will work on the tasks listed above under the direction of the Planning Strategy Team Leader.  In so doing, to provide an effective, efficient and customer focussed service for the Council.
