Build on your housing delivery experience. Join a multi-disciplinary team working to drive and accelerate the delivery of housing, in particular affordable housing, for the people of Bristol.
Transforming Bristol’s housing
Regularly voted to be one of the best places to live in the UK, Bristol is celebrated as one of the most liveable cities in the country with excellent green credentials, access to open space and cultural amenity. With a population of nearly 500,000 people and growing, Bristol City Council is determined to make sure this prosperity and the opportunities that come with it benefit everyone, through the provision of new homes and business opportunities in sustainable mixed-use communities.
What will I be doing?
You’ll plan and promote affordable housing projects from inception through to completion, to help us meet local housing needs. Your responsibilities will include negotiating Section 106 Agreements with housing providers and developers and maintaining a detailed understanding of external issues impacting on delivery, such as demographic and economic changes, local, regional, national policy and best practice.
Championing, negotiating and influencing the successful completion of housing delivery projects, you’ll act as a conduit between community groups, external stakeholders including Housing Association Partners and Homes England, and departments across the Council. As well as building strategic relationships with public, private and voluntary sector partners, you’ll ensure that our customers are at the forefront of decision making, by encouraging and responding to suggestions on service improvements.
What do I need to have?
With a proven track record in a senior housing enabling role with a Local Authority, Housing Association or specialist housing organisation, you’ll bring experience of delivering results through partnership working with multiple stakeholders, motivating and developing a large team, and meeting the expectations of organisations with differing priorities. You should also have experience of negotiating large complex Section 106 Agreements, and a thorough understanding of the operational context within which Local Government services are intended to operate.
You should be qualified to graduate and/or full Professional level in Housing or have equivalent experience through Accredited Prior Learning or demonstrable experience of working at a similar level.
