We are looking for a dynamic and highly-motivated person to join the West of England Combined Authority Planning and Housing team to support strategic planning activities as Employment Land Specialist.

WECA and the four West of England Unitary Authorities are working together on strategic cross-boundary planning to guide future growth and development with clean and inclusive recovery and growth at its heart.  This will involve the WECA constituent authorities working jointly on a Spatial Development Strategy (SDS), alongside working with North Somerset on their Local Plan.

As Principal Planning Officer you will lead strategic planning work to deliver policy and plans focusing on employment land and other relevant spatial and infrastructural needs relevant to economic functionality and priorities, under the guidance of the Strategic Planning and Planning Policy Lead.

You will lead an employment space delivery strategy to support the SDS, the Local Industrial Strategy and economic recovery, and ensure that employment land and spatial needs issues are given appropriate consideration in broader projects, particularly strategic masterplanning.

You will be experienced in strategic planning from evidence base through to examination, adoption and implementation, and in policy support for economic development, regeneration and growth and spatial strategy development generally.

Well-organised and an excellent communicator, you will be a highly motivated team player able to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively with a range of partners and across professional boundaries. You will be proactive and able to use your own initiative.

If this sounds like you, please get in touch. For an informal conversation, please contact Sophie Donaldson, Strategic Planning and planning Policy Lead on 07436 629490

LTC fixed initially to 30th June 2022 with the possibility of extension subject to funding. Secondments from public sector organisations are positively encouraged. During the pandemic, the postholder may be asked to work from home and remote working will be considered as an option ongoing.

Closing date 26th July. Interviews will be held on 7th and 10th August

Interviews will be held virtually via Zoom.
