Job Details

Hounslow are looking for a planner to join their award winning Development Management team and will consider applicants at any level of the career grade spectrum. The team are currently working on two opportunity areas, two housing zones and a wealth of interesting planning applications. We have high housing targets to achieve, new schools to place children in and need to create opportunities for employers who want to be in our well located borough. This must be balanced against green belts, listed buildings, conservation areas and River Thames frontage that need protecting.

About The Roles:

A Senior Planner will help with the delivery of major sites; leading on complex and major planning applications, liaising with developers, applicants and senior officers, conducting negotiations and presenting applications to Planning Committee. The appointment will be commensurate with experience.

We would also consider a planner at the beginning of their career and offer a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience and to develop a strong foundation for a career within the Built Environment, determining a large number of householder and minor applications, as well as contributing to the overall work of the teams.

The posts require candidates who have a vision for developing the built environment to achieve the council’s aspirations, who have the confidence and capability to engage with developers, carry a caseload of major applications, and the ability and experience to work with less supervision in delivering the service.

The Council is embarking upon a major programme of change to modernise the way we work and reduce our carbon footprint. We moved into a new landmark building in 2019 located in Hounslow town centre, and our new technology enables staff to work remotely and flexibly to improve the service we provide to residents and to help our staff achieve a better work/life balance.

Essential for the Roles:

Working towards or in completion of a RTPI recognised planning qualification

If you would like an informal conversation regarding the position please contact matthew.rees@hounslow.gov.uk or 020 8583 6623

Interviews will be held: W/C 26 October 2020

Closing date: 18 October 2020

Company

When it comes to development, Hounslow is bursting with exciting initiatives. From schools and housing to sports stadia, office complexes and even a broadcast studio, our borough has some of the most ambitious and diverse projects around. At the same time, we’re determined to protect green belt land, listed buildings, conservation areas and River Thames frontage.
