Job Details

Our client is a Local Authority based in the Midlands and they are seeking an experienced Planning Policy Manager to join them for a contract role. You will lead a team of Officers on all planning policy matters including supervising the development of the Council's local plan policies and projects, including conservation and to assist the preparation of neighbourhood plans.

You will be working with a wide range of stakeholders and can expect to come into contact with elected members, statutory and non-statutory bodies, developers and public stakeholders.

To apply you will need to have a significant level of previous planning policy experience and ideally proven line management experience to be considered. You will need to have a good breadth of knowledge in relation to policy development and you will need a thorough understanding of UK planning legislation. A relevant degree level qualification is essential and ideally you will have professional accreditation.

Critical to this role will be the ability to communicate effectively and to engage in negotiations that can often be sensitive and complex so you will need to be able to engage productively with third parties to develop good relationships that ensure successful development.

A full JD is available.

The post is a contract role which will initially run until early 2021 but could be extended and the rate offered will depend on your experience.
