Our client requires a Principal Planner to join their Development Management Team and take a lead role in managing major and complex planning applications and dealing with contentious development control issues. These will include undertaking negotiations with applicants/prospective developers and representatives of other Council departments. As part of your role you will be required to have involvement with complex S106 agreements and you will also be required to manage development management issues, including undertaking negotiations with applicants/prospective developers and representatives of other Council departments.

As a more senior member of the team you will be expected to represent the Council by preparing and presenting expert and professional evidence at public inquiries and informal hearings. In court and you will regularly be required to provide professional advice to Council members, senior officers, applicants and the public on planning applications, development proposals and related matters.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in one of London's key development areas and take the lead on major schemes working for one of the busiest and most diverse authorities in London. To carry out this role you will need to be a degree qualified town planner with experience working within a local authority development management team. Ideally at this level our client would like to see professional accreditation but consideration will be given to those with commensurate experience. You must have experience of signing off reports.

Our client is a Local Authority in South West London and they are offering a rate of £40/hr (inside IR35) but could be open to discussions around rates depending on your experience. It will initially be offered as a 6 month contract but is expected to be a rolling contract. Please get in touch for further information.
