We are looking for an experienced Urban Design Officer, who is passionate about delivering well-designed places, to provide expert advice and support to enable the Council to respond effectively to these significant changes.

The Council adopted its Local Plan in January 2019 but faces ongoing challenges and development pressures including London wide housing requirements.

The post holder will provide the Council’s principal urban design expertise. The role will involve leading on the development of design policies and guidance in the Council’s forthcoming Local Plan review and proposed Supplementary Planning Documents. It will also involve working closely with Development Management, providing design advice on applications and pre-applications, which includes a number of large, complex sites.

The successful candidate should have experience of operating in a political environment, with an understanding of how to respond to and balance competing pressures and demands.
