Development Management Manager

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in Oxfordshire in their search for a Development Management Manager to join their Town Planning department. This will be offered on an initial 6-month contract, then rolling (Start date negotiable).

We are looking for an experienced qualified Town Planner and Manager who has strong day-to-day experience of Development Management and Management in the public sector. You will be required to undertake the normal duties for a post of this kind, including advising staff on the determination of planning applications, signing off planning application reports, quality and performance monitoring, staff management etc.  You will be an effective leader, with clear vision, strong negotiating skills and the ability to develop good partnership working.
 
Key Objectives:
·To be responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Development Management service including major developments, non-major developments, enforcement and technical support.
·To play a positive and active role in the future planning, enforcement, monitoring and delivery of development within the council.
·To provide professional planning advice to meetings of the councils planning committee, senior management, elected members, officers and any other committees as required
·Makin key decisions, leading, advising development management teams on all forms of planning matters
·To maintain and improve a customer orientated approach including fostering good relations and communicating important matters relating to planning with councillors and local bodies
 
It would be beneficial to hold a RTPI accredited Planning Degree or equivalent Planning qualification and/or have considerable experience in a similar position; and also hold a Corporate membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
