Our client is a local authority based in East London and they are seeking a Principal Building Control Surveyor to join them for a contract role and work on a number of high rise residential projects.
You will assist in managing the delivery of the Council's responsibilities for the determination of building regulation applications and the inspection of building work in progress to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations, London Building Acts and related legislation.
You will also make recommendations for decisions to take enforcement action under delegated powers in a designated area of the borough, as well as make legally binding on-site decisions regarding the compliance of completed work that may vary from approved plans and details.
Applicants for this post should be educated to degree level and it is essential that you are a RICS or MB Eng member, have a proven experience in high rise residential work, and have experience of running a building control patch within a local authority setting. You must have excellent communication skills as you will give expert specialist advice to members of the public, other council departments, council Members and interested parties on Building Control matters either in person, by phone or through correspondence.
The post is offered for 3 months initially and the rate offered will be between £40 - £42/hr (inside IR35). A full job description is available.
