Band 9 - £42,507 - £46,485 per annum inclusive of fringe
The borough of Basildon is alive with opportunity and has the ingredients to be one of the most successful and desirable places in the South East. As the largest economy in the Thames Estuary outside London, we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved but we are never complacent. We are driving inclusive, sustainable growth to provide opportunity and prosperity for local people and businesses, access to quality homes, vibrant town centres and an enhanced local environment.
You will join the council’s planning strategy and implementation team, working with friendly and supportive colleagues and handling all housing strategy and delivery matters for a wide variety of planning policy projects relating to the future growth of our borough, including progressing the Local Plan to adoption, delivering the local plan allocations, housing policy for the South Essex joint strategic plan and neighbourhood plans, and housing land availability. You will be the key planning officer involved in strategic liaison with the Housing Services function of the council.
Decisiveness and ambition for our borough are key qualities in this role so that you discharge our important statutory functions and play a key role in advising on and facilitating effective service delivery.
A keen collaborator and team player, you will also have the ability to work across the planning function of the Council, with the opportunity to work within the development management, enforcement and strategic policy and implementation teams. As a strong communicator, verbal and written, you will undertake all areas of planning for the local authority, including attending developer meetings and committees.
If you would like to be part of Basildon’s success, we look forward to receiving your application.
Closing date: 17 January 2021.
