Planning Officer

We are currently recruiting for a Planning Officer (career graded). We are preferably looking to attract an officer who has full MRTPI status and is ready to deal with complex planning applications. This vacancy is ideal for someone who already operates in a similar type role or for someone who is ready to take the next step in their career and wants to gain the right experience to step up into a Principal Planning Officer role.
You will contribute to the Council’s vision by providing a comprehensive Development Control Service, in accordance with Service Development plans, performance targets, legislation and the Council’s service standards and policies.
You will need have a can-do attitude and in return we can offer the opportunity to take a lead on major applications, present at planning committee and engage with local members. The Development Control team are busy implementing the recently adopted Borough Plan which means you will have a varied caseload inclusive of rural and urban planning applications.

Specific experience/qualifications are listed in the attached job description and person specification. To be successful you will require competence in the following;
- Ability to work independently
- Provide pre-application advice
- Negotiate with applicant and their agents;
- Prepare accurate delegated and committee reports on applications
- Deal with S106 agreements
- Prepare and present the Council’s case at appeals
