The Borough of Broxbourne is in south east Hertfordshire, just north of London and the M25, with a population of 96,000. It is an attractive place to live and work and is just 25 minutes from Liverpool Street and Stratford International stations by train. Principal Planning Officer (Development Management) – Ref PPO

Never has there been a more exciting time to join Broxbourne Borough Council’s planning team. Following the recent adoption of the Local Plan, the Borough has a number of major developments underway and is anticipating the imminent submission of many more major planning applications.

If you are interested in enhancing your experience of managing applications for largescale residential, commercial, retail and leisure developments, then this role is for you. We are seeking an enthusiastic Planner to join the Council’s Development Management team. The successful applicant will have the skills and experience necessary to enhance the quality of developments in Broxbourne, working as a case officer for a range of high profile planning applications. Applicants should be chartered members of the RTPI with previous experience managing major applications. They must have strong design skills, be excellent communicators with the ability to independently write clear and concise reports. The ability to provide mentorship to junior officers and deputise for the Development Management Service Manager is also desirable. Above all, they must be able to demonstrate that they will make a positive difference to Broxbourne.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.

The successful candidate will require a full driving license to undertake site visits around the Borough. Officers are mainly based at home currently due to the pandemic and flexible working arrangements will be considered.
